Sinking that beautiful face into your pillow puts unnecessary wear and tear on your face and body… Let’s be honest, we simply cannot afford the additional unnecessary damage. After waking up a few days in a row with a sore neck, I found myself on a mission… “What is the healthiest sleep position?” I conducted novice research, and this is what I found on achieving true beauty sleep.

#1 Sleeping on the back minimizes wrinkles because you don’t have anything pushing against your face.

#2 Sleeping on the back prevents neck and back pain because the spine is in a neutral position and not forcing a curve.

#3 Sleeping on the back reduces acid reflux because your stomach is below your esophagus and the acid can not come back up.

#4 Sleeping on the back helps maintain perky breasts because your back helps support the weight and they aren’t pulling.

#5 One puffy pillow is the best and a wedge pillow is also great to use.

As New York Fashion Week hit my radar, I decided to go out on a limb and pick up a Fierce Red Lipstick. I stopped by Tom Ford at Neiman Marcus and this Lush Cherry Red Lipstick caught my eye. The fab thing about Red Lipstick, is the option to buy it in any shade, from almost every beauty brand. Red is hot, and will instantly add a pop of color and elegance to your look. Blonde, brunette, auburn, 20 or 50… There’s a red for every lovely lady.

{French Lesson} Face + Body + Hair Oil

Ahh, the thought of an elegant Parisian woman with silky smooth skin, radiating with simple beauty, and dressed head-to-toe in subtle chicness… How perfectly French. I think secretly many American women admire the Parisian women for their seemingly effortless beauty. The French women are refined, yet so at ease, they are cultured, and oh so chic. So naturally when I heard about using French Oil for the face, body and hair from Lucky Magazine, I jumped on the trending beauty recommendation.

Who wouldn’t want a multi-use product for hair, face and body created in France? Crafted with the nutrient rich oils of Argan, Grapeseed, Almond, Hazelnut; then blended with the aroma of three of my favorite white flowers…  This $34 bottle, Lierac Paris Sensorielle Huile Aux 3 Fleurs in Blanche will make all those beauty products unnecessary, while infusing you with nutrients and giving you that sought after glow. It was the least expensive oil on the list, so I thought it would be a perfect way to break me in… Or out for that matter.

My experience of Lierac French Oil for the past two weeks has been nothing short of radiant! Absolutely love the sheen it gives my skin and hair; and I adore the delicate floral scent. Only down side… Don’t lick your lips- the plant and flower oils apparently smell better than they taste. I will let this bottle run it’s course and perhaps try another brand the next time around.

{French Lesson} If we can’t live in France, at least we can absorb some of their loveliness in a bottle.

Yves Saint Laurent “Sensual Silk No. 2″ Rouge Volupt Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick with SPF 15

We all know the classic saying, when one door closes another one opens… Well it absolutely did for me. My favorite Nude Lipstick of 5 years, Trish McEvoy Gorgeous Demure, was discontinued and I was absolutely devastated… It is so hard for me to find a Perfect Nude Color that isn’t pink and is more flesh toned. Something drew me into the YSL counter at Nordstrom a couple of weeks ago though, and it was then I discovered the Perfect Nude Lipstick. Yves Saint Laurent ”Sensual Silk No. 2″ Rouge Volupt Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick with SPF 15 is absolutely amazing. The creamy coverage, perfect color, sun protection, and delicate scented flavor makes for my new Favorite Nude Lipstick. I am obsessed!

This sweet and sultry Viktor & Rolf Flower Bomb Perfume will be my summer go-to in addition to my fresh Jo Malone scents. Ahhhh… The sweet smell of summer is here- Bring it on!!

Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer is the Master of Disguise. This creamy, full coverage, and pricey concealer has been in my make-up bag for about 5 years now, and I have not strayed since. Winning Beauty Awards year after year by Neiman Marcus, Lucky Magazine, InStyle, Elle gives me confidence in my concealer decision… The rest of the world loves it too!

Blessed with thin skin under my eyes, I need all the help I can get to conceal the darkness. Cle de Peau Concealer is by far the best, and well worth every penny. One tube should last you about six months.

What do you get when you mix honey, brown sugar, lime and banana? A gourmet DIY Beauty Mask and Exfoliator within minutes. Moisturize, exfoliate, extract, refresh and more – Whipping up a Gourmet DIY Beauty Mask is a breeze!  You can add and subtract any ingredients, but this is our recipe…

All Natural Honey – The base of our DIY Mask

Mix in this order:

1 Tbsp of Natural Honey

1.5 Tbsp of Brown Sugar

1/2 Lime 

1/5 Well Ripened Banana

Put on your face and body for 1- 10 minutes, making sure to scrub the brown sugar on problem areas. {FYI: The lime burned the cut on my finger, so be cautious. It did not burn my face whatsoever.} The mask was incredibly soothing and kind of tasty in a strange way! You will enjoy it- we did!

Ahhh, the new controversial Art of the Self-Portrait, thanks to Instagram, is Ridiculous!! Ridiculous as in- I LOVE! Self-Portraits are bold, beautiful and documentary. Celebs, Models, Bloggers, Fashionistas and Photography Lovers everywhere have embraced the new Art. Are you sharing your feelings, your look, location, a hairstyle or just taking a Self-Portrait because you have one of those moment in time shots?? Whatever the reason- Rock the pic and Own it!! Always know you will have the close minded people who think you are full of yourself, showing off, not photogenic, and so on… There is criticism in everything, so get over it! Just tonight I heard Fashion Police lightly knocking the concept- didn’t give it a second thought though!

Just When You Think You’ve Heard it All #2

Well I could not resist another opportunity to share a comical interaction at a recent event. I could be overreacting, but this just rubbed me wrong the way.

Salesperson at a High End Department Store: “Hi Ma’am, Would you like to try the most expensive perfume in the world?”

Me to Salesperson in an amused and humorous tone: “Not unless someone else is buying it for me.”

Salesperson: “Well I’m sure we can find a gentleman here to buy it for you.”

I chuckled and walked off… I mean don’t get me wrong, I do love the finer things, but I certainly would not make a purchase purely based on it being the most expensive of its kind. If that was a sales pitch, it did not work on me!

Your New Best Friend: Grapeseed Oil

Grapeseed Oil is Amazing – This is my Travel Size

I am LOVING the Grapeseed Oil I started using a couple of weeks ago- it is AMAZING! I’ve eliminated many of my products and am using this all-purpose oil as a damage treatment for my hair, evening moisturizer for my face, moisturizer for my body, and on the children after their baths. My skin is noticeably more resilient and feels so wonderful. I use it on my scars and stretch marks too, but it is too early to notice any results there! Grapeseed Oil is said to help repair stretch marks, scars, and firm the skin, so I am all about this natural remedy for less than $10 at the grocery store!

*Make sure to let the oil dry before putting on nice clothes, or blot with a towel. I slather it on my body in the evening though before I go to bed. I also put it in my hair the night before I am going to wash it.*

March 14th Post: Not only is Natural Grape See Oil wonderful for high heat cooking such as stir-frying, sautéing, and deep-frying, but this clean, light, antioxidant enriched oil  is fabulous to use on ourselves! Trish McEvoy High Volume Lash Lengthening Mascara

My absolute favorite Mascara is Trish McEvoy High Volume Lash Lengthening in Jet Black! About four years ago, my best friend and I were introduced to this revolutionary product by Alex Dempsey at Nordstrom Houston, we have not strayed since… I’ve been enticed by Dior and a couple of others, but they just don’t compare. This mascara does not clump or smudge, it lengthens your lashes, then slides off in full lash size sheets when you remove it- I can’t explain it, you just have to try it! Trish McEvoy Mascara is almost too good to be true and I am obsessed!

Beauty Marks and Gorgeous Stars Who Rock Them

I feel compelled to honor the Beauties who share something in common with me after being asked why I don’t remove my “Moles”! God blessed me with Beauty Marks for a reason and I don’t feel a need to remove them or cover them up with makeup. I embrace my Beauty Marks, the eloquent term for “mole”. Of course I could get them removed or conceal them, but why? They don’t bother me or define me, they are part of who I am! I don’t wear foundation, so what trouble it would be to conceal them. The way you look doesn’t define you, it is how confident you are and how you carry yourself! If you feel better covering them or removing them, then go for it, but don’t do it for anyone else but yourself. You are beautiful if you feel beautiful inside, and act beautiful outside! Don’t EVER let anyone make you feel otherwise!
