When I think of packing for Las Vegas I think of festive, chic, comfort and little bit sexy! Come out of your shell a bit and walk on the wild side… But not too far on the wild side! I know casinos are cold and traveling outside can be chilly too- so layering is important as well as being comfortable! Your foundation and layers from top to bottom should be comfortable and fashionable! I am not going to Las Vegas, but a friend is, so hoping this packing list will inspire her…
THE OVERALL IDEA: A good scarf, a few tees, versatile jacket, dressy shirt, dress, jeans, small purse, high heels and flat boots are key! Mix, match, accessorize and layer as needed! When I pack I try to stay close in the same color family so I can use most of the things more than once- cuts down on packing and stress of selection!
Here is my Suggested Las Vegas Packing List…
Versatile Scarf- This scarf would be a perfect compliment to a good white tee. Your jacket can be optional, but the scarf is fashionable and will keep you warm. Since the scarf has black, brown, gold, and grey- it is very versatile! The tribal influence is very HOT right now…
Versatile Jacket- Find a jacket that can easily go from day to night. I love leather, because it can do just that and you will find many occasions to wear one! What you wear as the foundation under the leather jacket will determine how dressed up or dressed down you are! Pair with a white tee and riding boots or wear over a sequins top and heels! DO NOT be afraid to mix and match black, brown and white… Experiment, but get a second, or third opinion when getting dressed! It is all about balance! I’ve also featured an alternative nude colored jacket in case you like that better, if you are big busted, this nude jacket is not for you- sorry!
Good White Tees- I always pack 2 to 3! They are easy, fuss free and can be accessorized to be dressed up or down! I love my new Velvet tee. You can also check out my article on white tees here…
Day to Night Purse- If you can find a purse that will match with everything, I personally like gold or silver, and that you can wear day to night, you will have found the perfect purse. I like this Tory Burch Gold Metallic Purse because it can be held as a clutch or worn cross body with a chain! Perfect for traveling and you will use this purse forever… Another investment piece!
High Heels- Every girls best friend to give you that instant boost of height and sex appeal! Make sure to find some that are comfortable and wear them once before your trip if possible. I tend to gravitate toward a high heel with a platform at the ball of my foot! I love this toned down gold reptile shoe from Badgley Mischka because again it is versatile with different outfits… Even paired with a white tee, the leather jacket and jeans!! Tie the gold in with gold bangles or necklace!! (Or better yet, your Gold Purse!)
Sequins Top- Nothing makes you sparkle like a little sequins and what better time to sparkle than in Las Vegas! Put this under the black jacket with jeans and your heels and it can easily be worn by itself if you’re dancing around! Pair this with black pants as well for something a little dressier! This fit of this top is looser and longer, so make sure your jeans or pants are fitted so you don’t look heavy.
Dress- A hot dress is key. A one shoulder dress is classy and sexy! It can be accessorized with gold jewelry and worn with the gold heels! I love one shoulder dresses in the fall and winter because I can usually make it without a jacket! This dress you would definitely wear again, just change up the accessories, shoes, purse for a different look (try black heels and black purse or gun metal purse and heels)! You can also check out Rent the Runway or the soon to open New for the Night to get a perfect dress and return when you’re finished! I also put a great little lace dress here for a little bit of a Vegas, Western, Feminine look!!
Comfortable Flats (Uggs, Riding Boots or Ballet Flats)- I love these Frye Boots in Smoke because you can wear them with any color and they don’t have to match perfectly! I have a pair of Frye boots I’ve had for years and absolutely love them! These would be super cute with a white tee and scarf or jacket or sweater coat paired with skinny jeans… The possibilities are endless! You could even go out on a limb and pair with the lace dress above!
Summary: When you shop for Vegas, shop in your closet first, then make a list of what you want! Try to buy things you will wear again, otherwise, I don’t suggest spending too much money on them! Check out stores like Nordstrom, French Connection, Off Saks, Neimans Last Call and Tootsies…
Hit ‘em big with style in Vegas! Feel great, look good and have some fun!
Best Wishes- Emily
