[ Keep it Simple + Stylish Holiday Dressing Tips ]

1. Begin pulling pieces from your closet and putting them in a special section for holiday festivities. Rolling racks are tons of fun.

2. Play dress up and have fun making the pieces work in different ways. Find your best fitting pieces and work hard to style them many ways. I love trying on an outfit or two before I go to bed.

3. Try adding and subtracting accessories like jewelry, shoes, handbags, jackets, tights.

4. Although bling is nice, don’t overdo it… If you have bling in your outfit, make sure your look isn’t competing for attention. Balance

5. A 360 degree view – a plus when trying on looks.

6. If you need a new pair of shoes, buy smart, invest in a pair you will wear. Black patent is a classic investment.

Loving these Ombré Jeans donned by Ashley during our Falling for Tootsies photo shoot! DL1961 Premium Denim collaborated with Texas Blogger Tina Craig of Bagsnob on these waxed 1985 Emma Jeans in Fiji for a fab denim look in one of the season’s hottest colors! The collaboration does not stop there, she has more pieces inspired by her love of fashion. Wednesday, August 29th the Bagsnob herself will make a personal appearance during the DL1961 Capsule Collection Trunk Show at Tootsies Houston from 10am-7pm. If you haven’t rocked the Navy + Black look, this may just get your wheels turning. During a Tory Burch Fashion Show last year I embraced the concept for the very first time while listening to her brilliant words… Mix navy and black and don’t think twice about it. She went on to say Coco Chanel loved mixing them too. Good enough for those icons… more than good enough for me!

What a glam, effortless, fashionable look from the David Peck Fall 2012 Collection, the Lillie dress. They say a girl should wear the dress, not the dress wear the girl, but this dress wore me… I felt wonderfully at ease in this beautiful Navy High Low Dress from David Peck. This HiLo Dress is seasonless + perfectly Texas.  Love Houston Designer David Peck- he knows Fashion, Houston and a Woman’s Body!

What an enchanting feeling it is to have a Dressing Room Glory Moment… Priceless! The stage is set: You are in a perfect atmosphere, have a Fashion Conscience + Counselor to talk you through the decisions, and then you find something that looks and feels right! What more can a girl ask for?!? The more I have perfected my shopping, the more I have learned not to settle… Don’t buy something unless you are in love and Don’t buy something just because it is on sale. The fashion world is booming with Emerging Fashion Designers, Target is bringing in the Big Names, and Buyers are trending to Made in the USA Brands, giving you a plethora of options. Ah, decisions decisions…

{ WISDOM } Remember to Invest in Staples, Find your brands and Breed a Loyalty with them, Find a Store, Build a Relationship on Facebook or Twitter, Shop Sales on the first day, Make Friends with a good Fashion Counselor, bring a Shopping Companion, make Smart Acquisitions, Scout New Arrivals as they hit the door… You will find your own Shopping+ Style and learn to buy smart.

If  The Suburban Diary is part of your Regular Reading, you know I just professed my love for Printed Jeans in { Sprint for the Prints } … Well I found them alright. These Alice + Olivia Cropped Skinny Jeans in a Black Floral Print are probably the most comfortable jeans I have EVER tried on! I asked for any other colors, prints in the style- but no luck- this was the last pair at Tootsies Houston. I hope this soft, light weight, stretchy denim will make an appearance in a future collation for Alice + Olivia.
